Be familiar with the rules of your child's health insurance plan. We make every effort to comply, but ultimately your policy represents a contract between you and your insurance carrier.
Your choice of hospitals, specialists, laboratories, radiological diagnostic centers, and therapists may be limited. If you are a member of a health maintenance organization (HMO) or preferred physician organization (PPO) you may need a referral to see a specialist. Such referrals may need to be approved by one of the doctors and should be discussed prior to making an appointment with the specialist.
If your insurance policy requires a referral, you must call our office before the specialist can see you. We ask that you please call the office as soon as you have scheduled the appointment. This allows our office adequate time to process your referral efficiently. Any referrals called in less than 48 hours of the actual appointment date can not be guaranteed immediate processing. This also gives the specialist the option to refuse treatment and/or recommend rescheduling. We realize there are times when you may get an appointment in less than 48 hours and we will try to accomodate in those instances. However, your prompt attention is greatly appreciated.
